Dalai Lama to Visit Uluru

In other news, on Thursday past, 11 June, a Taiwanese tourist stuck in a 20 metre crevice on Uluru overnight was winched to safety but remains in a critical condition.  He and two others climbed the huge rock, but the man diverted his return course from the others.

The local Anangu people, who jointly manage the site with Parks Australia, request visitors to not climb Uluru, but there is no law strictly prohibiting climbers.

A sign at the base of the rock structure reads: "Our traditional Law teaches us the proper way to behave. We ask you to respect our Law by not climbing Uluru."
